How to Fill a PDF Form Online for Free (No Sign-up)
Visa applications, job forms, school admissions, bank and insurance forms: many of them arrive as PDFs. You do not need to print, fill in by hand and scan them again. Here is how to fill a PDF form on your phone or computer for free, without creating an account.
First: is your form fillable?
There are two kinds of PDF forms:
- Fillable forms have real boxes built in. When you open them in a PDF reader, you can click into a box and type. Most official forms from governments, banks and universities are like this.
- Flat forms are just pictures of a printed page, often scanned. The lines and boxes are only drawn on, so there is nothing to click.
You do not need to check this yourself. When you open a PDF in our tool, it tells you how many boxes it found, or that the form has no fillable fields.
How to fill a fillable PDF form
- Open Fill PDF Form and choose your PDF. On a phone, tap the box and pick the file from your Downloads or Files.
- The tool lists every box it found, grouped by page. Type your answers, tick the checkboxes and pick options from the drop-down lists.
- Optional: tick Lock my answers so they cannot be changed later. This turns your answers into normal page content.
- Press Fill PDF Form and download your completed form.
Tip: keep one unlocked copy as well. If you find a mistake later, you can open the unlocked copy and change just that box.
What if the form has no fillable boxes?
For a flat or scanned form, type on top of the page instead:
- Open Edit PDF and choose the form.
- Press Add text, type your answer and drag it onto the right line or box.
- Repeat for each answer, use the arrows to move between pages, then press Edit PDF and download.
Edit PDF also works for Urdu, Arabic or Hindi answers, which fillable boxes may not be able to show.
Sign the form
Many forms need a signature at the end. Open your filled form in Sign PDF, then draw your signature with your finger or mouse, type it, or upload a photo of it. Drag it onto the signature line and download.
Make it small enough to upload
Online portals often limit uploads to 100 KB, 200 KB or 2 MB. If your filled form is too big, use Compress PDF and choose a target size. Our guide How to Compress a PDF to 100KB or 200KB shows how.
Common problems and quick fixes
- "This PDF is password protected": open it with Unlock PDF first, using the password you were given.
- Some letters do not show: fillable boxes support English letters, numbers and common symbols. Use Edit PDF for other scripts.
- Pages are in the wrong order or sideways: fix them with Organize PDF before you send the form.
- You need to attach documents: turn photos of your ID or certificates into a PDF with Images to PDF, then join everything with Merge PDF.
Is it safe to fill forms with personal details?
Forms often contain your passport number, address or bank details. With JanjuaPDF, the form is filled inside your own browser and is not uploaded to any server. Still, always download forms from the official website of the organisation, and send them back only through their official portal or email.
